2022 Year in Review
TIAH Friends and Fam -
We are so incredibly grateful to you for your support of This is About Humanity and the transformative and tangible efforts we have undertaken throughout this last year with your generosity. We restarted our beloved bus trips, ending out the year at number 29. We structured innovative binational matching grant campaigns to combat serious challenges of food insecurity, mental health, and education for the migrant families, unaccompanied youth, and vulnerable communities we serve. We held in-person holiday gatherings. We made improvements at our partner shelters. Most of all, these migrant families felt seen, heard, and embraced. Our deepest appreciation to our angel donors and supporters helping make this world a better one.
As we ring in the new year, join us in celebrating our collective achievements:
Inaugurating our This is About Humanity Food Relief Kitchen which is currently feeding 2,500 children and asylum seekers daily in partnership with Fundacion Tijuana Sin Hambre and ICF. This translates to 720,000 meals a year with a waitlist of shelters requesting support
4 TIAH bus trips which provided families with new tents as their individual family home at Movimiento Juventud 2000, and turning over new sheets for close to 300 families at Caritas and for unaccompanied youth at YMCA. In addition, we had our Holiday Bus providing toys and Santa Claus at Yes We Can (YWCWF)
Our Holiday Parties - for Reunified Families in Miami sponsoring 15 families and in Los Angeles with IMMDEF sponsoring 30 families
Amazon wish-list gifting to Cobina, CASA YMCA, Fundacion Tijuana sin Hambre, and YWCWF
Our food insecurity grant benefiting our food relief kitchen in conjunction with ICF and Crossborder Express
The continuation of our Ludoteca Learning Libraries project at 7 partner shelters in Tijuana - because every child has the right to learn and play
Our innovative mental health grant benefitting over 4,100 children and teens at the US-Mexico border with ICF, United Way Mexico, and Fundacion CAAAREM - a first of its kind along the border - which we will be repeating in 2023
Our LGBTQ Grant benefitting It Gets Better Mexico, Cobina, Centro Ser, Casa Arcoiris, COCUT
Our Annual Anniversary Soiree benefiting our TIAH/Fundacion Tijuana sin Hambre/ICF Kitchen, Yes We Can World Foundation, and Immigrant Defenders Law Center
Funding of critical infrastructure needs including administrative office space and solar power at Movimiento Juventud 2000, a ladder and a new pantry for the youth at CASA YMCA, and upcoming second floor dormitory at Caritas
We are so thankful to you for making the above projects and so much more possible this year! As we wrap up the year, we have the following giving opportunities available:
Wish list requests for new roofing at Movimiento; added living/multi-use room at CASA YMCA
